When selecting a fender consider wheel size
Fenders sizes are determined by wheel and tire size. It is important to know your wheel size and tire width when selecting a fender. Your wheel size can be found on your tire wall. Road bikes and urban bikes with narrower tires are normally called 700c or can be referred to as 28″. Mountain bikes are typically 29″ (29er) or 27.5″ or 26″. Smaller wheels are 20″ or 24″.

It is important to know that Bluemels STYLE fenders are a bolt on fender. Once placed on the bicycle, they are not easily or quickly removed. Bolt on fenders offer more coverage as they can be longer, and they offer more stability as they affix to the frame with bolts. Quickrelease fenders are available, but are a completely different setup than bolt on fenders.
Consider fender profile width vs frame spacing
It may always seem better to go with a wider fender profile because it would offer more spray coverage, but the fender profile must fit through the frame. Before selecting a fender, make sure the fender profile width is not wider than the distance between your seat stays or your fork legs. In the example in this photo, the fender profile must fit through the fork legs of the bicycle.
Mounting Bluemels Fenders
Mounting Eyelets for Bluemels Fenders
Mounting eyelets or frame/fork mounting clamps are required for installation of Bluemels and Bluemels STYLE Fenders. If you do not have mounting eyelets on your bike, frame mounting clamps can be purchased separately so that the fenders can be mounted on the bicycle frame.
Fender Stays (Metal Stays)
Bluemels STYLE Fenders have metal stays as a part of the fender mounting setup. These stays may need to be shortened for the fenders to fit properly on the bicycle. If the stays need to be shortened, you will need a hacksaw or bolt cutters to shorten the stays.
Tools and Hardware for Mounting
All hardware you will need to mount your Bluemels STYLE Fender is included.
You will need to provide an 8mm wrench and a 4mm allen key. If stays need shortened, you will need a measuring tape and hacksaw or bolt cutters.
It will take roughly two hours to install the fender set and require basic mechanical experience.
Front Fender SAFETY Release
Every Bluemel has a safety release system for the front fender. The system allows the struts/stays to be easily uncoupled if branches or other debris become caught between the tire and the fender.

STYLE Fenders include front edge protectors & a spoiler for additional coverage.

SKS is a quality manufacturer in the bicycle industry, we have been keeping bikes rolling for over 100 years.
Our history began in 1921 when Karl Scheffer-Klute of Sundern, Germany began manufacturing curtain rods. His company was purchased in 1932 by Wilhelm Blome, who also purchased a tire inflator company, which inspired him to begin manufacturing metal pumps.
SKS is now known as a pump and bicycle fender manufacturer, along with accessories for your bike, including bike pumps, fenders, bags, tools, digital pressure gauges, bottle cages, cage adapters, and even phone holders.

Revamping the classics
In 2022 the SKS full fender line was renewed. The classic Chromoplastic Longboard and Commuter II full fenders were replaced with the new Bluemels and Bluemels Style fenders.
Both models are made using the same chromoplastic fender material. But, the Bluemels now come with black hardware and are available in more sizes than before.
The Bluemels Style fenders feature a square profile design, double U Stay technology, a matte black finish, and come with a sleek, flexible spoiler on the front and rear fender.

FENDER SELECTION-Choosing the correct bolt-on fender is based on your wheel size and your tire width. This information can be found on the sidewall of your bicycle tire. Please be careful to choose a fender that is compatible with the size of your wheel. If you have questions, please contact SKS USA for help selecting the perfect fender.
COMPATIBILITY-A. Frame mounting eyelets are required to mount bolt-on fenders to the bicycle. If frame does not have mounting eyelets, frame/fork mounting clamps can be purchased separately to create a substitution. B. Fender names include the profile width in mm. Profile width must fit through the seat stays & fork legs. C. Rear sliding bridge clip is flip style & can be bolted to under side or front side of seat stay bridge. Seat stay bridge MUST have a hole to mount the sliding bridge clip.
FENDER FEATURES-Fender profile lengths for STYLE Fenders are 960mm front and 1300mm rear, including spoiler. Bluemels style fenders are matte black in color and feature a special squared off, stealthy fender profile shape and matte black stays and hardware. Features SKS’s V-Adapter ESC Safety Release System, which allows the fender stays to uncouple should a branch or other debris get caught in the spokes. This is an extremely important safety feature.
INSTALLATION-Bolt-on fenders require mechanical skill & will take about 2 hours to install. Installation will require tools: measuring tape, hacksaw, file, 8mm wrench, & 4mm allen wrench. Set includes: front & rear fender, stays with ESC Safety Release, sliding bridge clip, mounting hardware, and instructions. If mounting the fenders on a bike with disc brakes–shims are included and will allow mounting the stays around the disc brake caliper. Contact SKS USA for installation assistance.
BLUEMEL INFORMATION-Bluemels STYLE fenders are available for wheel sizes 27.5”/28”/29” and tire widths from 1.1-2.6”. Bluemels fenders use a “sandwich” technology, where ultra-fine strips of aluminum are embedded in a plastic housing to add strength and durability. The light weight plastic is resistant to varying outdoor weather effects, like corrosion or UV exposure. The black stainless steel hardware and stays are corrosion and rust resistant.
